Objectives :
- To develop concrete proposals for the rehabilitation of Sfax's monuments and elements of intangible heritage.
- Raise awareness among participants and the general public of the importance of heritage conservation and its role in local development.
- Encouraging cooperation between local and international players to promote heritage.
- Putting forward sustainable approaches/strategies for the economic, social and cultural exploitation of historic monuments and intangible heritage.
Training Outline:
- A theoretical phase : all participants will attend a workshop on the following themes: tangible and intangible cultural heritage, cultural mediation. They will then be divided into several groups to follow two days of workshops on a specific theme (applied to the cultural heritage sector): cultural and creative economy / territorial marketing and branding / history, documentation and context.
During these training days, field visits are planned in Sfax and the surrounding area. Participants will be offered four different working and study routes : the medina, the European city, the salt works and old industrial sites, and the borjs.
- A practical phase : then, depending on the profile, interests and specific workshops followed by each participant, 4 teams will be formed. Each team will choose one of the four ‘routes’ that will serve as the basis for their future work. Over the course of a week, the teams will each be challenged to work on a site specific to the chosen route.
Each team will be tasked with :
- Analyse the chosen site, identifying the challenges and opportunities for rehabilitation.
- Propose an approach/strategy for the rehabilitation of the monument, taking into account its historical value, local economic needs and its potential as a place to live and engage in cultural activities.
- Draw up an enhancement plan that could include the organisation of events, the creation of tourist circuits, or the reuse of the site for cultural and economic purposes.
The teams will be supported by associations and experts during the week-long challenge.
Target Audience :
